Game #1 @Orlando 6/7/95
In their first Finals appearance, the Magic started out hot as they jumped to a 20-7 lead behind 11 points from Penny Hardaway. The lead was built behind 11 straight Orlando points as Houston missed 6 straight shots at one point. In the 1st quarter, Horace Grant outrebounded the entire Rocket team, 9-8. If not for Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston may have been run out of the building. Olajuwon hit 4 of 7 shots while the rest of the team made only 3 of 15 shots. The lead continued to expand as Nick Anderson scored 13 points in the 2nd quarter. Orlando would lead 57-37 at one point in the 2nd period despite 15 points from Clyde Drexler for the Rockets. Olajuwon picked up his 3rd personal foul in the 2nd quarter, as their cause grew bleaker. Houston came out in 3rd period like gangbusters as Kenny Smith made 5 3-pointers in the period. Houston went on a 19-8 run to tie the game at 69 on a Mario Elie trey. An acrobatic Drexler layup gave the Rockets their 1st lead at 71-69 with 5:28 left in the 3rd. The Magic came back strong in the 4th quarter after Houston went up by 9 as Shaquille O’Neal scored 12 points and pulled down 5 boards in the period. Orlando had numerous chances to clinch the game but couldn’t convert. They missed 6 free throws in the 4th and made only 1 of their final 6 field goals. Nick Anderson was the main culprit as he missed 4 straight free throws in the final 10.5 seconds. Kenny Smith then drained a long 3 to tie the game with 1.6 seconds left. Robert Horry opened the OT with back-to-back 3’s and Houston never trailed again. A Horry steal from O’Neal with Houston leading by 3 with 0:46 left was a key play. Orlando did tie the game on a Dennis Scott 3-pointer with 0:05 left but Houston ran down the clock and Olajuwon tipped in a Drexler miss with 0:00.3 left to give Houston the win. O’Neal did not score in the extra session as Orlando continued to fire away from outside. Horry and Smith combined for 34 2nd half points.

Game
#2 @Orlando 6/9/95
Orlando could not find the mark as they made only 34% of their shots in the 1st half and did not have any fastbreak points
either. All told, Orlando had 9 assists but 9 turnovers as well. The Rockets built a 22-point
lead, 63-41, as Orlando moved out to stop the 3-point shots, but left the middle open for drives by Sam Cassell and Robert
Horry. Hakeem Olajuwon had a big 1st half with 22 points. Cassell scored 16 points in the 2nd quarter including 7 straight to close the
half. Houston’s bench outscored Orlando’s 26-5 in the half. O’Neal, Scott and Anderson combined for 5 of 21 shooting in the half. Houston opened up their largest lead, 23 points, when they took an 80-57 lead in the 3rd period. The Magic would pull within 13 during the final 4:28 of the 3rd. Houston pushed it back up to 19 behind a Cassell 3-pointer and layup. O’Neal scored 23 points in the 2nd half but it was too little, too late. Houston controlled the 4th quarter, as Orlando could not mount a serious rally. Horry had a career high 7 steals in the game.

Game #3 @Houston 6/11/95
Orlando started hot behind Penny Hardaway’s 9 points and 5 assists in the 1st quarter but Houston would not go away. Horace Grant scored 10 of Orlando’s first 13 points as the Magic shot 60% from the floor in the opening period. Brian Shaw came off the bench to score 10 points in the 2nd and spark Orlando to a 51-42 lead with 4:19 left in the half. Houston scored 11 straight points to take a 53-51 lead late in the half. After a back and forth 3rd quarter, Robert Horry led the way in the 4th with 11 points. The score was tied with 7:29 left in the game when Orlando failed to score on its next 6 possessions. Shaquille O’Neal hit back-to-back hoops to bring the Magic within 96-94 with 2:36 remaining. Shaq then missed 2 hook shots and Clyde Drexler scored off both misses to give the Rockets a 100-94 lead. The Rockets made only 3 of 6 free throws which Orlando to cut the lead back to a single point with 35 seconds left. Houston ran down the shot clock and Robert Horry hit a backbreaking trey with 14 seconds remaining.

Game #4 @Houston 6/14/95
Hakeem Olajuwon came out with 10 points and 5 rebounds in the 1st quarter, but the Rockets missed 9 of their last 10 shots in the quarter. The Rockets poor shooting enabled Orlando to go on a 14-5 run to overcome an 18-7 Houston lead. The Magic then drained 7 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter, but they still could not shake Houston. There were 4 ties and 13 lead changes in the 3rd quarter. Shaquille O’Neal gave Orlando a 78-77 lead, but it would be their last. At the start of the 4th, Mario Elie’s two 3-pointers and fastbreak hoop gave Houston an 88-78 lead. The 11-2 Rocket run was sparked by 5 Magic turnovers in 6 possessions. Later in the quarter, 6 straight points by Hakeem Olajuwon in 90 seconds gave Houston a 101-89 lead. That gave them all the cushion they needed to clinch a sweep and their 2nd consecutive crown.
