Minneapolis took a 3-0 lead behind Mikan’s 25 1st-half points. Mikan fouled out with 9 minutes left in the game, but by then, it didn’t matter. Horace McKinney missed the game due to his wife’s illness.

Game #4 4/9/49 @Washington
Washington staved off elimination in a wild game. Edwin Kachan & Sonny Hertzberg were ejected after a fight in the 1st half & George Mikan suffered a fracatured right wrist. Mikan stayed in the game after the injury (which wasn’t diagnosed until the next day), but missed his next 13 shots from the field.

The Lakers never trailed as the 3rd time was a charm as they finally wrapped up the title series after losing games 4 & 5. Minneapolis started the game with a 12-3 run. The Lakers led by as many as 24 in the 3rd quarter.
