Game #6 4/24/63 @Los Angeles
In Bob Cousy’s final game, in front of a record L.A. Sports Arena, came through by snapping out of his shooting slump. Boston was leading 92-83 when Cousy left with an ankle injury. By the time he returned, the lead was down to 100-99. The Celtics were able to hang on thanks to clutch free throw shooting by Tom Heinsohn. Elgin Baylor led the Laker comeback by scoring 19 points in the 2nd half. He ended up with only 28 points which snapped his Finals streak of 13 straight games with 30 or more points.
In the series, the Lakers dished out only 105 assists; 2nd lowest ever in a 6-game Finals series. The Celtics 640 field goal attempts is the 2nd most in a 6-game Finals series.
