ABA ALL STAR GAME
1/24/70 @Indianapolis
Spencer Haywood continued
his dominating season by winning the MVP in front of the ABA’s first national
TV audience. For his trouble, Haywood received a 1970 Dodge Challenger and $2,000.
Haywood blocked 7 shots as the West never trailed. The East started the game
by hitting only 1 of their first 10 shots as the West built a 17-3 lead with
6:51 left in the period. The lead would be 24-8 with 4:03 lead. The East would
finally rally late in the 3rd and early in the 4th. They pulled within 93-86
with 8:29 left in the game. The West promptly reeled
off a 12-0 run to lead 103-86 with 6:14 left. The lead would only grow from
there.
